Dancing stick |
A devil stick is a conical wooden baton, that is tapered from the end to the centre, mostly decorated with a layer of foil. With the aid of a pair of sticks (also called side, control or hand sticks), the devil stick is maintained in the air by hitting, catching, turning, spinning, etc.
Flower sticks are cylindrical and possess leather or plastic tassels at their ends, which slow down the game with the spinning stick. While flower sticks used to be devil sticks for beginners, it is a completely different discipline today.
The devil stick probably comes from China and dates back to the 16th century. |
